Fluid Mechanics (ME 330) Spring 2016

This course is an undergraduate level treatment of fluid mechanics. The goal of this course is to provide an understanding of the physical mechanisms underlying fluid flows in various configurations. Specific topics include fluid statics, kinematics, integral and conservation equations, similitude, internal and external flows and turbomachinery.

Fluid Mechanics in Industrial Processes Summer 2016

This course is part of the curriculum of the Online Master’s in Mechanical Engineering program, offered by UT Austin starting in 2016. This course will offer practicing engineers and technology managers a comprehensive treatment of various fluid mechanics topics. Working professionals will enhance their knowledge and understanding of fluid flow and related phenomena in multiple application spaces. The skills developed in this course will benefit the design and analyses of various fluid-based systems.

Heat Transfer (ME 339) Fall 2016, Spring 2015, Fall 2013

This course is intended to help develop a firm understanding of the physical processes underlying heat transfer, and to develop the analytical skills necessary to solve real-world heat transfer problems. The course consists of an indepth treatment of the three modes of heat transfer: conduction, convection and radiation, and their place in the analysis of real-world systems.

Experimental Heat Transfer (ME 139L) - Fall 2016, Fall 2015, Spring 2014

This course is a laboratory course that supports the fundamentals taught in ME 339. Laboratory exercises include practical studies of measurement techniques for conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer processes. Particular emphasis is placed on thermal measurements including the use of thermocouples, thermistors, RTDs, and infrared cameras. The course is focused on learning sound experimental techniques, understanding the details underlying heat transfer measurements, and uncertainty analysis.
